Who we are
So many of our greatest memories and connections happen around the table. Restaurants, bars, and hospitality spaces offer more than a place to grab a couple of coffees, a round of drinks, or a meal — they foster community.
That said, with steady competition, rising operating costs, and more selective consumers, every place needs to stand out and bring people in.
That’s where we come in.
Nowadays…
89% of dining research takes place on mobile devices
87% of customers say they have visited a restaurant because they found it on social media
If your digital presence isn’t inviting, you’re missing out on your next batch of reservations.
We’re here to help you boost brand awareness, foot traffic, and revenue through digital strategy, social media, web design, and content creation.
Meet the Founder
Avia Hawkins
Hi there, I’m Avia! Born and raised in White Plains, I spent 13 years living in Manhattan and Brooklyn before coming back to Westchester County — in other words, I’m a New Yorker, through and through.
I studied Media, Culture, and Communications at NYU, then spent a decade honing my craft at brands like Soho House, Mastercard, HBO, and Chillhouse.
It was my time managing content and communications at Soho House that changed how I saw this industry — I got a real education in what makes hospitality work, and what it takes to turn a great restaurant into a beloved one.
Pair that with a genuine, lifelong love of finding the best places to eat and drink across New York, and you've got the two things that led me here: a business built entirely around supporting the local restaurants, bars, and spaces that give our communities their character.
Today, You Know The Place is proud to be a Black, woman-owned marketing studio with a key mission: help the spots I love (and the ones I haven't found yet) become the places everyone already knows. Don’t leave money on the table – pull up a chair.
